Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, family-centered critical nursing care in the Pediatric ICU
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition using advanced assessment skills
• Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary team members
• Administer medications, manage infusions and advanced therapies safely and accurately
• Educate and support patients' families with compassion and clear communication
• Document care thoroughly and timely in the electronic health record
• Participate in unit quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in California or compact license as applicable
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required or obtained shortly after hire
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• Prior experience in a PICU or pediatric critical care setting preferred
• Comfort with high-acuity pediatric patients and advanced monitoring/therapies
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with families and teams

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, diploma or BSN). BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and age-appropriate assessments
• Skill in cardiac and pulmonary monitoring and interpretation of telemetry
• Experience with ventilator management and advanced respiratory support
• Proficiency in medication administration, infusion pumps, and titration protocols
• Effective clinical judgment, prioritization, and time management in high-acuity settings
• Ability to use electronic health records for documentation and order verification
