Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
• Assess patient condition, monitor vital signs, and respond promptly to changes
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists to develop and implement care plans
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and advanced treatments safely and accurately
• Provide family-centered care by educating and supporting families during critical illness
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately in the medical record
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current RN license in California (or compact license as applicable)
• Experience or strong interest in pediatric critical care (PICU experience preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Willingness to complete mandatory orientation and unit onboarding

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in pediatric critical care nursing principles and practices
• Familiarity with monitoring equipment, ventilators, and vasoactive infusions
• Skilled in medication administration and IV/central line management
• Ability to prioritize and triage in fast-paced, high-acuity situations
• Competence with electronic health records and clear clinical documentation
• Cultural sensitivity and family-centered communication skills
