Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU with vigilance and compassion
• Provide advanced bedside nursing care including ventilator management, medication administration, and complex nursing interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams to create and execute individualized patient plans
• Educate and support families, explaining complex information in clear, reassuring terms
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and participate in emergency procedures and code responses
• Participate in orientation and precepting activities to support new staff and maintain unit excellence

Qualifications

• Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support BLS certification required
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS preferred or required depending on facility policy
• Prior PICU or pediatric critical care experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to manage complex pediatric cases
• Current immunizations and TB screening per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of pediatric critical care principles and practices
• Experience with ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and infusion therapy
• Excellent communication skills with children, families, and clinical teams
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast paced critical care environment
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation practices
• Compassionate family centered care approach
