Roles & Responsibilities

Provide high-quality progressive care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients across medical/surgical populations
Assess patients continuously and intervene promptly for changes in condition using advanced assessment skills
Operate and manage advanced medical equipment (A-lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, multiple IV pumps) safely and confidently
Support patients requiring short-term ventilatory support, both invasive and noninvasive
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care from admission through discharge
Act as a clinical leader on the unit: assist with precepting, guide nursing assistants and ancillary staff, and promote best practices
Provide compassionate physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients and their families

Qualifications

Current State of Montana RN licensure (required)
Degree from a Nursing Program
BLS, ACLS, PALS required (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
Practice experience in an advanced Medical/Surgical unit plus recent Critical Care or Progressive Care nursing experience (required)
EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
Comfort with pediatrics, telemetry, EKG interpretation, and use of multiple IV pumps

Education

Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

Patient assessment and advanced nursing principles
Use and troubleshooting of multiple IV pumps and advanced medical equipment
Care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, arterial lines, NG tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
Ability to provide and monitor noninvasive and invasive ventilatory support
Basic cardiac telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
Experience with discharge planning and collaboration across disciplines
