Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, compassionate perioperative nursing care in the operating room
Prepare patients and the OR environment for surgical procedures
Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to ensure efficient case flow
Monitor patient status throughout procedures and respond to changes in condition
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of intraoperative care and patient events
Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and sterile technique standards
Participate in team huddles, debriefs, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Louisiana) – required
Operating Room (OR) experience or demonstrated perioperative nursing skills
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
Strong teamwork, communication, and critical-thinking skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment

Education

Current RN license (required)
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Perioperative nursing practices and sterile technique
Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and assist proactively
Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and OR workflows
Patient safety, infection control, and intraoperative monitoring
Effective interdisciplinary communication and documentation
