Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition, applying clinical judgment to prioritize care
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning
• Respond to patient needs and emergencies with calm, efficient action
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic health records and handoffs to ensure continuity of care
• Promote infection control and patient safety practices on the unit

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana required
• Current BLS certification required; advanced certifications encouraged when applicable
• Clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing preferred
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by the facility
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
• Comfortable with electronic health record systems and basic computer skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with medical-surgical procedures and post-operative care
• Good documentation practices and charting accuracy
• Infection prevention and patient safety knowledge
• Teamwork, time management and effective communication skills
