Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: 9.5-hour shifts (Med/Surg); specific start/end times and days vary; orientation required

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, patient-centered Med/Surg nursing care and clinical assessments
Administer medications and treatments accurately and document care thoroughly
Monitor patient status and escalate concerns to the interdisciplinary team
Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to optimize outcomes
Educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and discharge needs
Participate in orientation activities and precept whenever called upon to support new staff

Qualifications

Active RN license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
Clinical experience or interest in Medical/Surgical nursing (Med/Surg)
Comfort working 9.5-hour clinical shift blocks and participating in orientation
Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team
Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire

Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Solid knowledge of Med/Surg patient assessment and nursing interventions
Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy basics
Skilled documentation and electronic health record familiarity
Ability to prioritize, triage, and manage changing patient needs
Team-oriented mindset with strong patient advocacy skills
