Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across medical and surgical units
• Float between assigned units (Medical, Laulima surgical acute, occasional Cardiovascular) and adapt to unit workflows
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing interventions for acutely ill patients
• Safely manage specialty equipment and procedures including wound vacs and chest tube care
• Document care accurately using Meditech EMR and manage medications via Pyxis
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and safe handoffs
• Support orientation and onboarding of travelers and new staff as needed
• Adhere to hospital policies, infection control and required immunization documentation

Qualifications

• Active State of Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment
• Minimum 2 years (up to 10 years) experience in Med-Surgical nursing or similar acute care settings
• Current BLS and ACLS required
• Preferred certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• Comfortable working in a float pool model across multiple units
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and deliver safe, efficient care
• Documentation of immunity required; medical or religious exemptions will not be accepted

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med-Surgical nursing fundamentals and clinical judgment
• Experience with Meditech EMR for documentation and charting
• Familiarity with Pyxis medication systems and medication safety practices
• Skill in wound vac management and chest tube care
• Ability to triage, prioritize and manage multiple patients on night shift
• Effective communication and teamwork across interdisciplinary care teams
• Adaptability to float across units with varying patient ratios and acuity
