Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care and supervise CNA/Tech staff to ensure patient safety
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and triage for patients of all ages
• Make independent clinical decisions during your shift and consult leadership for complex situations
• Maintain accurate Electronic Medical Record documentation and transcribe physician orders
• Implement infection control procedures and uphold standards of care and hospital policies
• Develop and support patient care plans, participate in quality improvement, and attend meetings
• Evaluate emergencies calmly, initiate appropriate measures, and complete incident reporting
• Maintain supply and medication levels, report equipment needs, and support unit operations

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state (agency staff must have active Alaska license; direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start)
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Clinical Competency required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually
• TNCC preferred (required for Emergency Department nurses)
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and to work independently in high-acuity situations
• Excellent communication, delegation, and supervisory skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing: BSN, ADN, or Nursing Diploma
• High school diploma or equivalent (as noted in position requirements)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of nursing/medical practices, hospital and long-term care regulations
• Strong skills in patient assessment, triage, and emergency decision-making
• Proficiency with EMR documentation and nursing documentation best practices
• Infection control and isolation technique expertise
• Ability to supervise and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Capacity to handle emotionally stressful situations with professionalism and calm
