Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour schedule, 3x12 (11:00 AM - 11:00 PM), typically three shifts per week with some weekends (day/evening coverage; rotating)

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care in the Emergency Department with professionalism and autonomy
Rapidly and accurately triage patients, prioritizing care based on clinical need
Perform thorough patient assessments and initiate/monitor IV therapy and other interventions
Communicate changes in patient status, diagnostic results, and care plans to ER physicians and mid-level providers
Respond quickly and effectively to acute changes in patient condition
Direct and coordinate ED techs, registration staff and allied health personnel as needed
Document patient care thoroughly in ED records and maintain accurate ED documentation
Operate and maintain manual and electronic medical equipment safely

Qualifications

Current Montana State RN license required
Degree from an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred
BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience required
Basic computer skills and comfort with electronic documentation

Education

Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures
Triage, patient assessment and rapid clinical decision-making
IV therapy skills and familiarity with manual and electronic medical equipment
Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary teams
Accurate ED documentation and charting
