Shift Type: Nights — 12-hour night shifts (12-hr nights), every other weekend (EOW), rotating as needed; first-to-float and will float between Bryan and College Station (16 minutes apart); guaranteed 36 hours/week

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide timely, expert emergency nursing care for a high-volume ER (average ~135 patients/day)
- Manage high-acuity trauma, STEMI, and stroke patients including chest tubes, central lines, intubations, and rapid transfusions
- Lead rapid assessment and triage in the separate triage/’first eyes’ area once credentialed
- Implement and participate in Mass Transfusion Protocol (MTP) and advanced resuscitation processes
- Collaborate with physicians, midlevels, RT, and techs to deliver coordinated acute care 24/7
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and manage hemodynamic drips safely
- Serve as a flexible team member — float between campuses and cover vertical care/fast track when needed
- Support a safe environment with in-house security and participate in codes and rapid responses as required
Qualifications
- Active RN license eligible for Texas practice
- Minimum 2 years of relevant Emergency Department experience (posting also references 3 years in one section)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
- Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (83%) before signing the contract — three attempts allowed
- Comfortable and experienced with central line management, chest tube care, MTP, trauma care, STEMI and stroke protocols
- Experience working in a similar trauma level and patient volume is required
- Ability to float between campuses and work nights; dependable attendance (call-outs strongly discouraged)
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/ASN or BSN). BSN not required per posting
- Active RN license for Texas
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong emergency nursing judgment and triage skills
- Telemetry strip interpretation and hemodynamic/drip management (e.g., levophed, diltiazem, nitro, Cardene, sedation meds)
- Proficiency with EMRs used in the unit: MEDITECH, PulseCheck, or Picis
- Pediatric emergency care experience (10–15% pediatric volume) and ventilatory troubleshooting skills
- Experience with trauma workflows, rapid transfusion/PRBC processes, and central line/chest tube preparation
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams including RT, techs, MDs, NPs/PAs, and transport
