Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical education and training for long-term care staff in Sitka and Wrangell
• Develop, select, and implement curriculum and training programs aligned with accreditation and policy standards
• Standardize and streamline clinical competency programs across the consortium
• Partner with clinical leaders to design training that improves patient care and supports staff growth and retention
• Support preceptorships and coordinate student clinical experiences with UAA/UAS
• Use evidence-based research to improve professional development activities and patient outcomes
• Serve as a liaison for clinical education opportunities across SEARHC and contribute to department projects

Qualifications

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required
• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred; if not, must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter
• Minimum 5 years professional nursing experience, including at least 2 years in long-term care
• At least 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be substituted with supervisory experience)
• Supervisory experience preferred

Education

• BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, and LTC patient care
• Specialized expertise in adult and geriatric care
• Experience developing and evaluating evidence-based standards of care and training modalities
• Familiarity with multiple education delivery methods: in-person teaching, skills fairs, competency compliance
• Comfort with digital tools such as TEAMS, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, PowerPoint
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to foster a positive learning environment and support staff development
