Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for behavioral health patients
• Assess patients regularly, identify changes in condition, and communicate findings to the care team
• Implement individualized care plans and therapeutic interventions
• Safely administer medications and monitor effects according to protocol
• Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation when needed
• Document care accurately and timely to ensure continuity and quality
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support holistic patient recovery
• Support a safe environment by following facility policies and best practices

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to obtain NH licensure if applicable)
• Experience or interest in behavioral health settings (BHS) is highly valued
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications encouraged
• Comfort with crisis intervention techniques and de-escalation strategies
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and monitoring in behavioral health populations
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation methods
• Medication administration and safe handling practices
• Accurate clinical documentation and electronic health record use
• Effective communication with patients, families, and clinical teams
• Time management and prioritization during high-acuity shifts
