Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clear direction and guidance to nursing and support staff on policy interpretation and clinical workflows.
• Manage patient flow across the hospital, ensuring timely admissions, transfers, and discharges while optimizing bed utilization.
• Assign and coordinate nursing resources, collaborating closely with charge nurses and all clinical and non-clinical teams.
• Monitor staff productivity and competency, offering constructive feedback, coaching, and performance support.
• Serve as the onsite administrative decision maker in collaboration with clinical leaders and the Chief Nursing Officer.
• Respond to patient and family concerns promptly and professionally, escalating when appropriate to improve experience.
• Lead or initiate special projects to improve operations, patient flow, and quality of care on the unit.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Montana.
• Minimum 3 years of RN experience in a hospital setting; recent ICU experience preferred.
• CPR required; ACLS and PALS required or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
• Comfortable with ventilator-supported patients and managing A-lines, invasive lines, chest tubes, and multiple IV pumps.
• Proven leadership experience (charge/resource nurse roles), strong communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize a busy workload, and make sound clinical and administrative decisions.

Education

• Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced nursing principles and post-operative patient care knowledge.
• Cardiac monitoring expertise and familiarity with critical care equipment.
• Experience with patient flow operations, resource management, and staffing allocation.
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and project initiation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and interacting at all organizational levels.
• Comfortable using basic office equipment and clinical documentation systems.
