Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries like total knee, hip, and shoulder replacements
• Monitor patient vitals, administer medications including pain management and antibiotics
• Collaborate with charge nurses and patient care techs to ensure safe staffing ratios of 1:5-6
• Educate patients and families on post-operative recovery and discharge planning
• Maintain thorough documentation and adhere to infection control protocols
• Float to MedSurg, rehab, or PCU as needed to support team coverage

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted RN license in Nebraska
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Valid driver's license to verify distance from facility
• Previous Med Surg or Ortho experience preferred but not mandatory
• Strong teamwork and flexibility to adapt to a changing environment
• Willingness to take ownership of patient care and learn continuously

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthopedic nursing and post-surgical care
• Skill in patient assessment, medication administration, and telemetry monitoring
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented unit
• Proficiency with electronic health records and documentation
• Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Flexibility to handle floating to various units as assigned
