Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to a diverse patient population in a combined ED/MedSurg Swing unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips for up to 22 beds, stepping into ED holds as needed
• Titrate intravenous drips per protocol and physician orders, ensuring patient safety
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating patient flow and team assignments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage acute, swing-bed, and emergency patients
• Float to ED holds or other units as needed, demonstrating versatility and teamwork

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (compact license accepted)
• At least one year of recent MedSurg or ED experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Ability to read telemetry strips independently (ED nurses required)
• Comfortable floating to ED holds and taking charge responsibilities
• Must not have worked perm or PRN at CHI St. Alexius Health Garrison within the last 12 months
• Residence outside a 50-mile radius from Garrison, ND to qualify for this travel assignment

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in caring for acute medical-surgical and emergency patients
• Skilled in titrating common drips and managing set-rate infusions
• Strong telemetry interpretation and recognition of arrhythmias
• Experience with NEBS, oxygen delivery devices, and basic ventilator management
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, 22-bed unit
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for floating and charge duties
