Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms and equipment to ensure safe, efficient cardiovascular and EP procedures
• Review patient charts, lab results and consents ahead of procedures and communicate abnormalities promptly
• Perform thorough pre- and post-procedure patient assessments and monitor for changes, communicating critical findings to the physician or NP
• Circulate during procedures, assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional cardiac and neurovascular procedures, and document procedures in MacLab/CardioLab in real time
• Administer procedural sedation safely and follow hospital policies for time out/full stop procedures
• Maintain a sterile and therapeutic environment, promote patient comfort and privacy, and follow all safety guidelines
• Provide structured handoffs to receiving nurses and accurately document all care and procedures
• Participate in preceptorship and ongoing staff education to support unit competency and growth

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Required experience: ICU, CVICU, IMC or Cath Lab experience (new grads and Med/Surg-only nurses are not being considered)
• Preferred: prior RN experience in a Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Lab
• Ability to work varied hours, respond to on-call pager, and handle procedural circulation independently
• Maintain required annual unit and hospital mandatory training and certifications

Education

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing preferred
• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma accepted with requirement to obtain BSN within 36 months if not already obtained

Knowledge & Skills

• Procedure room preparation and sterile technique
• Patient assessment and monitoring in pre/post procedural settings
• Intra-procedural circulating and clinical documentation (MacLab/CardioLab)
• X-ray fluoroscopy and intra-cardiac ultrasound familiarity
• Experience with procedural sedation and advanced cardiac/EP procedures
• Comfort with hemodynamics, structural heart procedures (TAVR, LAAO) and device cases (pacemaker/ICD)
• Ability to participate in Full Stop/Time Out safety checks and effective handoff communication
• Precepting and staff education skills
