Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a 24-bed unit
• Assess, monitor, and document patient condition and response to treatments using Cerner
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately; follow chemo protocols when certified
• Support and prepare patients for occasional procedures such as pelvic exams, echocardiogram assistance, and thoracentesis
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to create and execute individualized care plans
• Maintain safe patient ratios (typically 1:4 or 1:5) while delivering high-quality nursing care
• Communicate clearly with patients and families to provide education and emotional support
• Adhere to unit guidelines, hospital policies, and infection control practices

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be valid for practice)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (preferably with oncology exposure)
• Chemo Certification preferred and will make candidates more competitive
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and meeting scheduled weekend coverage requirements
• Team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn new unit processes

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing principles and cancer care familiarity
• IV therapy skills and safe medication administration practices
• Proficiency or comfort using Cerner electronic medical records
• Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and clinical judgment
• Ability to manage patient loads at 1:4 or 1:5 ratios
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Adaptability to hospital policies and unit-specific workflows
