Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise approximately 45 FTEs across Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Environmental Services, setting clear expectations and providing coaching
- Direct preventative maintenance programs and inspections to ensure continuous, safe operation of building systems (HVAC, boilers, electrical, plumbing, life-safety equipment)
- Oversee utility systems to provide uninterrupted heat, steam, power, gas and oxygen required for patient care
- Manage contractor relationships and ensure outside vendors comply with hospital policies and regulatory standards
- Develop job-specific customer service expectations and associated training plans, and follow up on employee and customer concerns professionally and promptly
- Perform assessments with other departments to identify needs and develop actionable plans to meet facility requirements
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS and local building and fire codes, and lead corrective actions when necessary
- Inspect equipment and systems, diagnose malfunctions, and lead repair and improvement efforts according to manufacturer recommendations and best practices
- Drive environmental services, grounds maintenance, and regulatory readiness across the campus
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience (required)
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field
- Thorough knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclave procedures, bio-waste handling, life safety codes, construction phasing, and environmental services operations
- Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles to detect and repair malfunctioning equipment and systems
- Proven experience in contractor management, inspection, troubleshooting and regulatory compliance
- Willingness to relocate to a rural area (candidate MUST be willing to relocate)
Education
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered)

- Facilities Management and Plant Operations leadership
- Preventive maintenance planning and execution
- HVAC, boiler operation, plumbing and electrical systems expertise
- Environmental Services and Grounds Maintenance oversight

- Inspection, troubleshooting, and systems diagnostics
