Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional oncology nursing care to adults on the K9A Oncology/Women’s Surgical unit, honoring patient dignity and safety
• Administer treatments and medications accurately and monitor patient responses
• Document care thoroughly and efficiently using Cerner to keep the care team aligned
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, HUCs and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans in clear, compassionate terms
• Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately to ensure timely interventions
• Support unit workflow during admissions, discharges and procedures (e.g., occasional pelvic exams, echo, thoracentesis)

Qualifications

• Current RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (as listed)
• BLS certification (required)
• Chemo Certification (preferred — candidates with this will be prioritized)
• Comfort working overnight rotations and scheduled weekend coverage
• Ability to work in med-surg/oncology setting with patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing knowledge and experience caring for surgical and medical oncology patients
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration
• Strong assessment, triage and critical-thinking skills
• Team-player attitude with excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Familiarity with standard unit equipment and common procedures in med-surg/oncology
