Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate critical care for PICU patients, managing complex needs and delivering high-quality bedside care
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support safely and effectively
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and respond to changes in patient status with sound clinical judgment
• Carry out procedures including IV starts, catheterizations, central line dressing changes, trach care, tube feeding/placement, and ICP monitoring
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner while communicating clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Operate and manage Alaris infusion pumps and other unit equipment according to policy
• Collaborate with the team during transfers or floats to Pediatrics and NICU to maintain continuity and quality of care
• Maintain patient ratios appropriate to PICU acuity and advocate for patient and family needs

Qualifications

• Current, active RN licensure (must hold appropriate state license for practice)
• PALS certification is required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (as listed) and at least 1 year of PICU experience per unit requirements
• Experience with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care procedures listed for the unit
• Comfortable using Cerner documentation and Alaris infusion pump systems
• Willingness to float to Pediatrics and NICU as needed and work scheduled weekends

Education

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required; degree type not specified in posting

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong hands-on PICU clinical skills: ventilator management, trach care, ICP monitoring
• Proficient with hemodynamic monitoring and interpreting critical care data
• Skilled in central line care, IV starts, catheterization, and enteral tube feeding
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic documentation and Alaris infusion pumps
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to manage 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratios and prioritize rapidly in dynamic situations
