Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care on Med-Surg/Telemetry units using remote telemetry and bedside assessments
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry tracings and respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy using Alaris IV pumps with accuracy and safety
• Perform and assist with common Med-Surg procedures (e.g., post-op care, drains, chest tube follow-up, paracentesis/thoracentesis monitoring)
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—physicians, LVNs, PCTs and unit leadership—to deliver coordinated care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning to support better outcomes
• Maintain accurate documentation in Allscripts (Alterra) EMR and ensure timely communication of patient status
• Float to designated areas (inpatient rehab, ED, PCU) as needed while remaining within scope of practice

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas (or compact RN eligible) required
• Minimum 1 year Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience (as listed in the posting)
• Current ACLS, BLS and NIHS certifications required
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, capnography, glucometers and dynamaps
• Demonstrated ability with time management, patient prioritization and working within 5:1–6:1 patient ratios
• IV starts and strong cardiac rhythm recognition are preferred
• Team-oriented, positive attitude and flexibility to work mandated weekend shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Med-Surg nursing care and post-operative management
• Proficiency with Alaris IV pumps and common bedside equipment
• Experience with Allscripts (Alterra) EMR documentation
• Strong clinical assessment, prioritization and time-management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
