Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight and leadership for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care
• Directly evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) to maintain hands-on clinical excellence
• Lead clinical education and the competency process for OT staff, including supervision of COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians
• Develop, review, and maintain OT policies and procedures addressing scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
• Monitor regulatory compliance and professional standards to ensure adherence to state and departmental requirements
• Assist with program development and administrative tasks (approximately 20% of role), driving service improvement and innovation
• Supervise and mentor staff through performance feedback, competency assessment, and professional development activities

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy (AOTA-approved) — required
• Current California Occupational Therapy license issued by the appropriate state board — required
• Possess additional qualifications recommended by the California Therapy Board and the Rehabilitation Services Department — required
• Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) — preferred
• Experience supervising OTs, COTAs, and Rehab Technicians and leading clinical education and competency programs

Education

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (Required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical skills in patient evaluation, treatment planning, and clinical documentation
• Experience in clinical supervision, competency assessment, and staff development
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and ability to implement policy and procedure
• Ability to design and support program development and quality improvement initiatives
• Skilled in discharge planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Effective communicator and leader with experience mentoring clinical staff
