Roles & Responsibilities

Audit provider medical records to validate ICD-10 and CPT coding accuracy and ensure documentation supports code selection
Compile clear, actionable audit reports with analysis and recommendations to improve coding quality and compliance
Deliver regular education and feedback to physicians, midlevel providers, coders, and charge entry staff to strengthen documentation and coding accuracy
Maintain audit logs and ensure assigned productivity targets for record audits are met consistently
Collaborate with the Revenue Cycle Manager to design tools, training plans, and initiatives that improve clinical documentation
Train new revenue cycle team members on coding standards and documentation requirements
Perform coding tasks as needed to support operations and quality initiatives
Support performance evaluations and coding activity reviews in coordination with revenue cycle leadership

Qualifications

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
Associate degree in a related field required; Bachelor degree in a related field preferred
Minimum five (5) years' experience in inpatient and outpatient coding and auditing
Proven professional physician coding experience in an office-based setting
Experience interacting with physicians regularly to provide coding feedback and education
Experience coding across multiple specialties preferred
Comfortable working fully onsite in Dover, DE

Education

Associate Degree in a related field (required)
Bachelor Degree in a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding and coding guidelines
Experience with medical record auditing and clinical documentation improvement
Skilled at physician communication and provider education
Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient coding workflows and charge entry processes
Ability to compile audit reports and present findings clearly
Experience with revenue cycle management and audit reporting
Comfort training and mentoring staff on coding and documentation best practices
