Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed radiation treatments accurately and compassionately, ensuring each patient receives the correct dose and setup.
• Operate and maintain linear accelerators (including tomotherapy) and CT simulator equipment with safety and precision.
• Perform high dose rate brachytherapy procedures and assist with stereotactic radiosurgery and total body irradiation when indicated.
• Monitor patients closely during treatment—manage sedation/analgesia needs and escalate concerns to the team when necessary.
• Follow physicians' treatment plans and document treatments, changes, and patient responses thoroughly and timely.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, nurses, and support staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
• Adhere to radiation safety protocols and infection control standards to protect patients and staff.
• Contribute to a supportive, respectful workplace that upholds the hospital's mission and values.

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license (required).
• Current CPR certification at the Healthcare Professional level (required).
• Experience as a Radiation Therapist is preferred but not strictly required; training on-site may be available.
• Comfortable operating linear accelerators, CT simulators, tomotherapy, and brachytherapy units.
• Ability to work with ambulatory and inpatient oncology patients, including those requiring intensive monitoring.

Education

• Current Hawaii State Radiation Therapist license (license requirement serves as primary credential).
• CPR (Healthcare Professional) certification.

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven knowledge of radiation therapy principles and radiation safety practices.
• Skilled in operating linear accelerators, tomotherapy, CT simulators, and brachytherapy equipment.
• Strong patient care and monitoring abilities, including managing sedation/analgesia when needed.
• Familiarity with stereotactic radiosurgery and total body irradiation protocols.
• Comfortable with clinical documentation, basic computer use, and electronic treatment records.
• Good communication and teamwork skills; compassionate bedside manner with oncology patients.
