Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify and enter inpatient medication orders accurately to ensure patient safety
• Check and dispense medications, maintaining high standards of accuracy
• Provide meaningful patient counseling and education on medication therapy
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses and the broader healthcare team to optimize care
• Rotate into ambulatory services as assigned, such as anticoagulation clinic or oncology
• Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and institutional policies
• Support and mentor pharmacy technicians and pharmacy staff with respectful supervision
• Document clinical interventions and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current license issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy or eligible for reciprocation in Pennsylvania within 90 days of hire
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred
• Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required
• Pharmacy residency experience preferred for ambulatory rotations
• Advanced practice certifications are a plus
• BLS certification required for certain ambulatory roles (meets AHA healthcare provider standards) and must be renewed every two years
• Retail pharmacy experience will not be considered

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (required)
• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication order verification and accurate order entry
• Medication checking and safe dispensing practices
• Inpatient hospital pharmacy workflows and acute care experience
• Patient counseling and clinical decision-making
• Knowledge of current state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Familiarity with ambulatory services such as anticoagulation and oncology preferred
• Comfort supporting diverse patient populations from pediatrics to geriatrics
