Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead infection surveillance and prevention activities across the hospital
• Develop, implement, and maintain infection control policies and protocols
• Perform audits and rounds in the operating room and sterile processing departments
• Investigate potential outbreaks and implement corrective actions
• Educate clinical and support staff on best practices for infection prevention
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety
• Monitor and report infection metrics, driving continuous improvement efforts
• Provide on-the-floor support and guidance during procedures in the OR and sterile processing

Qualifications

• Current RN license or relevant clinical license (ability to obtain Hawaii licensure required for practice)
• Proven experience in Infection Control within hospital settings, including Operating Room and Sterile Processing
• Familiarity with infection prevention practices, surveillance methods, and regulatory standards
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead education and policy efforts
• Ability to perform audits, data analysis, and report findings to clinical leadership
• Certifications such as CIC (Certification in Infection Control) or equivalent are a strong plus

Education

• Registered Nurse (RN) required; BSN preferred or equivalent clinical experience
• Additional infection prevention training or certification recommended

Knowledge & Skills

• Infection Control principles and surveillance methodologies
• Sterile processing workflows and operating room infection prevention
• Policy development, audit processes, and compliance monitoring
• Data collection, basic analysis, and reporting of infection metrics
• Strong interpersonal skills for staff education and cross-department collaboration
• Familiarity with hospital accreditation and regulatory requirements
