Registered Nurse - MedSurg Tele Oncology

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), typically 3 shifts per week; schedule assigned in 4-week blocks and may include days or a combination of days/nights depending on department needs; weekends variable
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care on MedSurg Tele and oncology-focused units, managing complex and high-acuity patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and quickly interpret dysrhythmias to initiate appropriate responses or escalate to rapid response/code teams
- Administer IV therapies, manage central lines and PICCs, and safely administer and monitor blood products
- Float between MedSurg, PCU, BMT, acute leukemia, hematology and other oncology specialties while maintaining continuity of care
- Use Epic for accurate, timely charting and care coordination with interdisciplinary teams
- Participate in infection prevention and isolation protocols to protect immunocompromised patients
- Support patient and family education, especially around chemotherapy monitoring, port care, and discharge planning
- Contribute to unit safety and quality initiatives, including fall prevention and emergency response readiness
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Ohio (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of recent high-acuity MedSurg Tele or higher (must meet experience requirements within the last 3 years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass)
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Oncology experience preferred; OCN or ONS/ONCC certifications are a plus
- Proven telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation skills; experience with Epic charting required
- Comfortable floating to PCU, BMT, hematology, medical oncology and surgical oncology units
- Travel assignment experience required and ability to adapt to changing schedules
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- IV therapy, central line and PICC management, and blood product administration
- Chemotherapy administration and monitoring (preferred)
- Use of rapid response and code team protocols
- Respiratory support skills including HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy care
- Familiarity with isolation precautions and infection prevention for immunocompromised patients
- Feeding tube management, chest tube care, PCA and critical post-op monitoring
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork in high-acuity settings
