Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
- Monitor resident condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe mobility and transfer assistance using proper body mechanics
- Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Help create a comforting environment that promotes residents' well-being and independence
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent credential
- Comfortable working with older adults and skilled in person-centered care
- Basic life support/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings (immunizations)
- Reliable, punctual, with a professional attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Prior experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus but new grads welcome
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for resident and family interactions
- Basic infection control and safe hygiene practices
- Ability to follow care plans and accurately record observations
- Good time management and prioritization during busy shifts
- Safe transfer and lifting techniques to protect residents and staff
