Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor residents’ comfort and condition; promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding as needed
• Help maintain a safe, clean and homelike environment for residents
• Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the care team
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families to promote emotional well-being

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
• State-required registration or licensure for nursing assistants in Maryland
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Demonstrated experience or comfort working with older adults in long-term care
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
• Proof of required immunizations and background checks as per facility policy

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe patient transfers, mobility assistance, and fall prevention
• Ability to follow care plans and document observations clearly
• Basic infection control practices and safe hygiene techniques
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
