Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor residents’ comfort and condition; promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding as needed
- Help maintain a safe, clean and homelike environment for residents
- Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the care team
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families to promote emotional well-being
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent
- State-required registration or licensure for nursing assistants in Maryland
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated experience or comfort working with older adults in long-term care
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff
- Proof of required immunizations and background checks as per facility policy
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in safe patient transfers, mobility assistance, and fall prevention
- Ability to follow care plans and document observations clearly
- Basic infection control practices and safe hygiene techniques
- Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
