Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: To be scheduled, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (Night shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to the nursing team
Document care provided accurately and timely in the facility record system
Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents’ nutritional needs are met
Follow infection control procedures and maintain a clean, safe environment
Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
Valid CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered attitude

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
Skilled in safe resident transfers and mobility assistance
Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
Good teamwork, communication, and observational skills
Ability to maintain professionalism during busy night shifts
