Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, preserving dignity and independence
• Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming) with patience and respect
• Help with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Take and record vital signs, reporting any significant changes to nursing staff promptly
• Support mealtime assistance and monitor nutritional intake when needed
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident observations
• Follow infection control practices and facility policies to keep residents safe
• Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the care team to support coordinated care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent certification
• Active state registration or eligibility to practice in Maryland as required
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Basic clinical experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is preferred
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
• Ability to pass background and health screenings, and reliable transportation to Bowie, MD

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills with activities of daily living (ADLs) and resident-focused care
• Comfortable taking and recording vital signs and observing changes in condition
• Knowledge of infection prevention, safe transfer techniques, and fall prevention
• Good communication and teamwork skills with a warm bedside manner
• Basic documentation skills and ability to follow care plans and directions from RNs
