Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Provide compassionate hands-on care tailored to the geriatric population
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Document care accurately and timely to maintain clear communication across the care team
• Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to promote dignity and quality of life
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other team members to deliver coordinated care

Qualifications

• GNA or CNA certification required (state GNA certification preferred)
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred but caring attitude and reliability are essential

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA/CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident rights
• Familiarity with infection control and proper hygiene practices
• Basic vital signs and observation skills with good attention to detail
• Safe transfer and lifting techniques to reduce fall risk
• Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during shifts
