Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Monitor resident status and promptly report any changes to nursing staff
• Support safe mobility and fall-prevention measures during transfers and ambulation
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and observations
• Collaborate with nurses and the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans
• Follow infection prevention and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate resident needs clearly and respectfully

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (Class: GNA) — required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Compassionate patient care mindset with good communication skills
• Ability to work night shifts and adapt to per-diem scheduling
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow facility policies and procedures
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care and age-related needs
• Skilled in assistance with ADLs and safe resident handling techniques
• Clear verbal and written communication for effective teamwork
• Basic charting and documentation practices (paper or electronic)
• Strong observation skills to notice subtle changes in condition
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
