Shift Type: Night shifts, 3x12-hour, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, typically 3 nights per week with every other weekend required (Night)

Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for medical-surgical patients with oncology histories, including chemo/bio-therapy administration when required
- Assess and manage IV lines, PICCs, ports (access and maintenance), blood product administration, and central line blood draws
- Manage specialty equipment and therapies such as heparin and insulin drips, chest tubes, surgical drains, wound VACs, and oxygen therapy
- Recognize and respond to cardiac and respiratory changes, including dysrhythmia interpretation and emergency interventions
- Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC and med administration systems (PYXIS) using SBAR communication
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—pharmacy, respiratory therapy, PT, social work—to ensure smooth, safe patient transitions
- Provide patient and family education related to diagnosis, treatments, line care, and discharge planning
- Participate in unit responsibilities like monthly staff meetings, floating assignments, and Storm/Hurricane Team duties when required
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience (ONC experience preferred or willing to obtain ONC certification)
- ONC certification required for this role; traveler must be able to administer chemotherapy if needed
- BLS certification required; ONS/ONCC chemo certification preferred
- Comfortable with night shift work and floating to like units (inpatient holding, ED boarding, etc.)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
- First-time travelers accepted — manager will consider travelers without prior travel experience
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong med/surg and oncology nursing skills including chemo/biotherapy administration and monitoring
- IV therapy, peripheral line & PICC management, port access and maintenance
- Blood product administration and central line blood draws
- Wound care and wound VAC management
- Familiarity with EPIC charting, PYXIS medication systems, and SBAR communication
- Isolation precautions and PPE use, oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway management
- Recognition and management of cardiac dysrhythmias and acute decompensation
- Ability to work effectively in high-census situations and support rapid response workflows
