Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional perioperative and postoperative nursing care for orthopedic surgical patients
- Assess patients, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes in condition with urgency and compassion
- Administer medications and assist with pain management according to protocols
- Coordinate with surgeons, therapists, and case management to support continuity of care
- Educate patients and families on postoperative care, mobility, and discharge planning
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (eligible to practice in North Carolina)
- Minimum 2+ years of RN experience (orthopedic surgery experience required/preferred)
- Previous travel nursing experience is a plus
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) required; advanced certifications welcomed
- Strong teamwork, communication, and critical-thinking skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on knowledge of orthopedic perioperative and postoperative care
- Skill with patient assessment, wound care, and mobility/immobility management
- Medication administration and pain management expertise
- Familiarity with sterile technique and OR/post-anesthesia care processes
- Proficient documentation and comfort working with electronic medical records
- Ability to triage, prioritize, and collaborate in a fast-paced surgical environment
