Roles & Responsibilities

• Sterilize and prepare surgical instruments and equipment to exacting standards
• Inspect trays and instruments for function and cleanliness before release
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, documenting cycles accurately
• Organize and restock sterile supplies to ensure surgical teams are never delayed
• Collaborate with OR staff and technicians to prioritize urgent cases
• Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
• Track inventory and contribute to process improvements that boost efficiency

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; sterile processing certificate preferred
• Certification in sterile processing (e.g., CRCST, CBSPD) is a plus
• Prior experience in sterile processing or central service preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required or supported upon hire
• Ability to work evening shifts and reliably cover scheduled hours
• Willingness to pass background checks, drug screening, and required immunizations

Education

• High school diploma or GED required; certificate/diploma in sterile processing preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety
• Familiarity with sterilization methods, instrument care, and tray assembly
• Comfort using sterilization and tracking systems (instrument tracking software)
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with surgical teams
• Physical stamina for standing, lifting, and repetitive tasks in a fast-paced setting
• Knowledge of infection control standards and regulatory requirements
