Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor behavioral health patients of adult and geriatric populations, maintaining safety and therapeutic engagement
• Use evidence-based de-escalation techniques to manage agitation and crisis situations
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care including medication administration and symptom management
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Support discharge planning and patient education to promote recovery and follow-up care
• Maintain reliable attendance and professionalism on a fast-paced, patient-oriented unit

Qualifications

• Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license required (must be active at time of submission)
• Minimum 2+ years of Behavioral Health Unit experience
• Experience with pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients
• Recent travel nursing experience required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• CPI or Welle/NAPPI de-escalation training required (completed prior to onboarding)
• EPIC experience required (please note where EPIC experience appears on your profile)
• Negative 14-panel drug screen (or higher) required within 24 hours of offer acceptance
• Traveler must have own vehicle (firm requirement)
• Current, uploaded license/certifications and a supervisory signed reference from within the past two years

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in behavioral health nursing and crisis intervention
• Expertise in de-escalation strategies and verbal crisis management
• Proficient documentation and charting in EPIC
• Safe medication administration and monitoring
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills
• Ability to work with a 1:9 RN-to-patient ratio and adapt to census changes
