Shift Type: Rotating nights, 3x12-hour nights (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM) — night shift; includes every-other-weekend coverage (minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert intrapartum, antepartum and postpartum nursing care to high-risk obstetrical patients, ensuring safety and excellent clinical outcomes
- Monitor fetal and maternal status using telemetry and EFM, interpret data, and escalate concerns promptly
- Circulate for C-sections and assist in the OR as needed, maintaining sterile technique and smooth teamwork
- Perform sterile vaginal exams and competent immediate newborn care, including neonatal resuscitation when required
- Triage obstetrical patients in the birthing care/triage unit, prioritize care and coordinate admissions
- Start and maintain IVs, administer medications and IV therapies safely and per protocol
- Document patient care in Epic and coordinate medication processes using Pyxis while communicating patient status using SBAR
- Support families through education, emotional support and clear discharge planning in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Current, active RN license (must be eligible to practice in NC)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience (hard stop) — 3+ years preferred
- Required certifications: BLS (BCLS), NRP and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred; C‑EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN in some cases)
- Proven experience in high-volume, high-acuity obstetrics (experience with facilities >300 births/month strongly preferred)
- Comfort and prior experience circulating for C-section strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Epic and Pyxis (charting and med management required)
- Ability to work nights, meet weekend coverage expectations and float within the women’s services unit as needed
Knowledge & Skills
- High-risk obstetrics, intrapartum and antepartum/postpartum care
- Neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care
- Triage of obstetrical patients and performing Oxytocin Challenge Tests (OCT)
- Telemetry interpretation and electronic fetal monitoring (C‑EFM)
- IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, and medication administration
- Circulating in the OR for C-sections and maintaining sterile technique
- Strong communication using SBAR and teamwork in a fast-paced setting
- Familiarity with Epic documentation workflows and Pyxis medication systems
