Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Monitor and assess cardiac and medical patients, recognizing and responding to changes quickly and confidently
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments accurately and safely
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses thoroughly in the medical record
- Perform accurate and effective shift handoffs and participate in safety and quality initiatives
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and discharge plans with clarity and empathy
Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or multistate compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (PCU, telemetry, or progressive care preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Current CPR certification and any required state/provider clearances
- Prior travel nurse experience is a plus but not required — adaptability and strong clinical skills matter most
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred but not required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong cardiac/telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills
- Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and complex nursing assessments
- Solid critical thinking and prioritization in a fast-paced setting
- Effective communication and teamwork with patients, families, and clinical staff
- Comfort using electronic medical records and documenting in a timely manner
- Ability to manage changing patient acuity and multiple competing demands
