Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and operate mechanical ventilators and advanced respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Deliver high-flow oxygen therapy and titrate respiratory support to patient needs
• Provide transport ventilation during patient transfers using transport ventilators
• Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop patient-centered treatment plans
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and participate in code and rapid response situations
• Float across critical care units to support patient needs and maintain continuity of care
• Educate patients and families about respiratory care plans and home therapies

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - required
• North Carolina Respiratory License - required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications - required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience (critical care experience preferred)
• NRP and ACCS certifications - preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation management including GE R860, Hamilton C1, and Draeger systems
• Transport ventilation (Newport HT70) and safe patient transfer practices
• High flow oxygen therapies such as Vapotherm and Comfort Flow
• Critical care workflows and experience working in adult ICU settings
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR for accurate charting and order follow-through
• Strong assessment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
