Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the Foundation’s financial operations with hands-on oversight and strategic vision — from high-level planning to rolling up your sleeves in the ledger when needed
- Design and optimize workflows, processes, and job structures to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency across the department
- Develop, implement, monitor, and revise annual budgets and departmental goals that support Parkland’s mission
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance with federal, state, and private funding requirements
- Serve as a trusted liaison between the Foundation and the hospital system, ensuring clear communication and financial alignment
- Select, train, motivate, schedule, supervise, and evaluate staff; foster professional growth and recommend disciplinary actions when appropriate
- Stay current with accounting and regulatory developments, integrate best practices, and apply knowledge to strengthen operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline (required)
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration (highly preferred)
- Minimum seven (7) years in a financial leadership position (required)
- Minimum four (4) years of non-profit sector experience (required)
- Experience working with a Foundation and familiarity with grants management (highly preferred)
- Healthcare experience, ideally within a large hospital system (preferred)
- Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience, including coaching and influencing for results
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present complex information clearly
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline (required)
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Public Administration (highly preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles
- Experience designing and maintaining internal controls and compliance frameworks
- Budgeting, financial reporting, and grants management expertise
- Analytical reasoning and attention to detail
- Process improvement and project/organizational leadership
- Ability to build effective cross-disciplinary relationships and influence outcomes
- Comfort with accounting systems, financial software, and Microsoft Office
