Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality PICC-related care and management for patients with central lines
- Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor for complications related to IV therapy
- Maintain meticulous documentation of line care, assessments, and treatments
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, coordinated patient care
- Adhere to infection control standards and best practices for vascular access
- Follow strict security and facility policies while working inside a correctional setting
- Educate patients and staff on PICC line care and device-related safety as appropriate
Qualifications
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania
- PICC competency or certification, or demonstrable experience with PICC insertion/maintenance
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred where applicable
- Willingness and ability to work overnight shifts (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Ability to pass required background checks and comply with secure facility policies (no cell phones inside secure perimeter)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm in constrained or high-security environments
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in IV therapy, PICC line care, dressing changes, and line troubleshooting
- Solid infection prevention and aseptic technique knowledge
- Accurate clinical documentation and charting practices
- Patient assessment and early recognition of complications
- Ability to work safely within a correctional facility and follow security protocols
- Team collaboration and clear communication with clinical and security staff
