Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities using evidence-based tools
- Develop individualized treatment plans that reflect patient goals and functional needs
- Deliver high-quality therapy sessions and adjust approaches based on progress
- Collaborate with nursing, therapy colleagues, physicians, and families to coordinate care
- Document evaluations, plans, and progress notes thoroughly and on time
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to maximize communication and safety
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to support patient-centered discharge planning
Qualifications
- Active or eligible California SLP license (state licensure required for practice in CA)
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent (see education)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred (if applicable) or equivalent clinical credentialing
- Experience providing adult/rehabilitation speech-language services preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification as required by facility (if applicable)
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with rehab clinical standards
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (or equivalent graduate degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in comprehensive SLP evaluations and individualized treatment planning
- Experience with dysphagia management and safe swallowing techniques
- Knowledge of cognitive-communication and AAC strategies
- Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary rehab team
- Strong interpersonal and family-education skills
- Comfortable with timely clinical documentation and outcome tracking
