Candidate Pay Rate: $67 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver expert hand therapy care using modalities and manual therapy to restore function
- Assess patients and develop individualized treatment plans focused on meaningful outcomes
- Fabricate and fit splints and orthoses to support recovery and independence
- Provide clear, compassionate patient and family education to empower recovery
- Use physical agent modalities (ultrasound, TENS, electrical stimulation) safely and effectively
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across acute care and pediatric settings
- Float to other UCSF facilities as needed to support patient care and staffing
- Document interventions and progress accurately and timely to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- California Occupational Therapy license (required)
- Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) OR California Advanced Practice license in Hand Therapy with Physical Agent Modalities (required)
- AHA BLS (required)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (required); pediatric experience highly preferred
- Ability to float to other UCSF facilities (required)
- NBCOT and additional hand therapy certifications (preferred)
Education
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (OTR) — required for California licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Hand therapy assessment and treatment planning
- Modalities and manual therapy techniques (ultrasound, TENS, electrical stimulation)
- Splinting and orthotics/prosthetics fabrication and fitting
- Edema management and specialized manual techniques
- Feeding techniques and pediatric rehabilitation approaches
- Biofeedback and functional rehabilitation strategies
- Experience in acute care, hand clinic, and pediatric rehab settings
- Strong patient and family education and communication skills
