Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients quickly and thoroughly using the nursing process — your observations guide care.
• Implement and evaluate individualized care plans in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting.
• Monitor telemetry and respond promptly to changes in patient status, escalating to physicians as needed.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up — empower them to recover.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and hospital services to ensure safe, timely disposition.
• Maintain EMTALA compliance and report suspected child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies.
• Document care accurately and communicate diagnostic results and clinical changes clearly to providers.
• Supervise and delegate to other nursing personnel while maintaining professional standards of care.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS required
• EDAP I and EDAP II (Emergency Department Advanced Practice) required
• CPI (de-escalation/safety) required
• BVP (MAB) training required
• NIHSS (Stroke) certification or Stroke Certification preferred
• COVID-19 vaccination/boosters preferred
• Knowledge of EMTALA regulations and experience in Emergency Department or Telemetry nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making in emergency situations
• Proficient with the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Strong clinical communication with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
• Experience with reporting requirements for child/adult abuse
• Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition
• Maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality under HIPAA and hospital policy
