Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using the nursing process — collect data and identify needs with clinical confidence
• Develop individualized care plans and implement evidence-based interventions
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Provide direct patient care in Med/Surg and Telemetry units and manage assigned patient loads
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and follow-up care
• Communicate changes in condition to physicians and the interdisciplinary team clearly and promptly
• Supervise and collaborate with nursing personnel to maintain high standards of care
• Document care accurately and complete required competency and specialty testing

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (Nursys verification required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• CPI and DCI/BVP certifications as required by the facility
• Comfort and experience working in Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units
• Ability and willingness to float between units (mandatory)
• Successful completion of required competency exams and skills checklists
• Pass required health screening and drug testing per facility policy

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and nursing process skills (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring knowledge
• Medical-surgical nursing experience and judgment
• Patient education and family communication skills
• Interdisciplinary communication and collaboration
• Competency with facility-required testing and documentation
• Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in clinical condition
