Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians
• Assess patients across the lifespan and develop individualized care plans
• Implement treatments and therapies safely and effectively, adjusting to patient response
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately and promptly
• Serve as Lead RCP for the section or department in the absence of a supervisor
• Collaborate with the medical and cardiopulmonary directors to ensure high-quality care
• Maintain competency through required exams, skills checklists, and continuing education
• Adhere to infection control, drug screening, and health requirement protocols

Qualifications

• State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC required
• Current BCLS (AHA) required upon hire and must be maintained
• ACLS required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained
• PALS required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained
• NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years experience as an RCP preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor of Science preferred
• Must complete license/certificate verification, drug screen, TB screening, and required immunizations

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (preferred)
• Bachelor of Science in a related field (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Respiratory therapy techniques and pulmonary diagnostic procedures
• Patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and documentation
• Ability to operate respiratory equipment and perform specialty exams
• Strong clinical judgment and age-specific care familiarity
• Effective communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting
• Leadership skills for acting as Lead RCP when needed
• Competency with core skills checklists and specialty exams
