Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform timely and thorough NIHSS assessments and document findings accurately
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to stroke and neurology patients
• Administer BLS-level interventions and participate in emergency response as needed
• Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members
• Maintain compliance with Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklists
• Manage on-call responsibilities professionally and respond to patient needs promptly
• Complete required documentation, licensing verification, and facility-specific testing

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification (required)
• NIHSS certification/competency (required)
• License/certificate verification as required by the facility
• Completion of Trinity specialty specific competency testing and skills checklist
• Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, 2-step PPD or IGRA, 10 panel drug screen, color vision
• Up-to-date immunizations per facility policy (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap)
• Comfort with on-call duties and flexible scheduling

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) per facility requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of stroke assessment and acute neurology care using NIHSS
• Excellent patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and care teams
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow protocols
• Adaptability to shifting schedules and unit-specific procedures
• Team-centered mindset with a focus on safety and quality improvement
