Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, patient-centered nursing care for mothers and newborns throughout antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum phases.
• Perform timely assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation using the nursing process.
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings and initiate appropriate interventions when needed.
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and family teaching to support recovery and newborn care.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure best outcomes.
• Maintain standards of care, accurate documentation, and a safe environment for patients and visitors.
• Guide and mentor other nursing personnel while utilizing the chain of command to advocate for patient well-being.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License (required)
• BLS (required)
• ACLS (required)
• NRP or PALS (required)
• AWHONN / Fetal Heart Monitoring credential (required)
• Experience in Labor & Delivery, maternal/newborn care and fetal monitoring (preferred)
• Completion of Prime Basic Pharmacology, Core Competencies, Skills Checklist and Specialty Exam (preferred)
• Nursys / License verification completed
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings as listed (PPD/Chest X-ray, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hep B, Influenza, Fit Test)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Proficient in fetal monitoring and interpreting tracings
• Strong clinical skills in labor and delivery, antepartum and postpartum care
• Newborn care competency
• Ability to teach and support patients and families effectively
• Quick clinical decision-making and effective team communication
• Familiarity with unit safety protocols and infection control practices
